General Information on Types of Health Insurance Available:

Medi-Cal

Qualifications:

Children must be 18 or younger
California residents
U.S. citizenship, nationality, or eligible qualified immigrants

Cost: free for all who qualify

Healthy Families

Qualifications:

Children must be 18 or younger
U.S. citizen, national or documented immigrant
California resident

Cost: $4-8 per month per child; $27 per family per month max

Healthy Kids

Qualifications:

Children must be 18 or younger
Resident of Santa Clara county
No requirement of citizenship or documentation

Cost: $4-8 per month per child; $18 per family per month

Child Health Disability Prevention

This is not an insurance plan but a public health program to provide healthy-child checkups for children temporarily without health insurance
